AFP Guest Artists
Dolan first met Tim Wiedenkeller at a Red
Cross benefit in Tucson, soon after the 9-11 terrorist attacks. He
booked Tim to appear at the Red Rooster Ruckus fundraiser in October that
year, as a solo in the afternoon jam session and in the evening with a group
called Native Seed. Tim
brought in David Klaus to play bass for the event, and David played at the
AFP with Tim two more times, and came out one weekend just to accompany Dolan. David
is featured on Dolan's "...after the show™" video
DVD. Needless to say, through Tim Dolan formed a strong friendship
and professional relationship with David.
This particular photograph was taken in
February 2002, when Tim and Dave accompanied Dolan at the Arizona Folklore
Preserve's Friday shows in conjunction with the Cochise
Cowboy Poetry & Music Gathering. Every year, Dolan presents
one show himself and books three other acts to present cowboy music, poetry,
or storytelling at the AFP. The effort gives those acts an opportunity
for an extended show, provides great entertainment for regular AFP fans,
brings in new audience members, and makes for an altogether wonderful day.
In 2002, Dolan performed on stage
Friday evening at the Buena Performing Arts Center, with Tim and Dave accompanying
him there as well. |
