Dolan Ellis Scrapbook - Page 3

This is an Arizona Folklore Preserve artifact.  It's a scrap of wood from the New Folklore Center building.  At the annual fundraiser, the Red Rooster Ruckus, in October 2000 (the building was completed in May 2001), these blocks of wood were "branded" on the spot.  Rather a unique souvenir.

This one takes a bit of imagination to view, but it's worthwhile because it's a piece of New Christy Minstrels history.  It's from a photograph taken by Jeff Jacobs, of a 1962 Andy Williams TV show--but taken in 2005 from a very bad tape of the show. Dolan Ellis is in right the middle of the group (middle row, middle of the row), and the song the New Christy Minstrels are singing is most likely "Billy's Mule"
